Aciclovir (acyclovir) with benzalkonium chloride is primarily used as a topical eye ointment (Acivir Eye Ointment) to treat herpes simplex keratitis (eye infections) by inhibiting viral replication. Benzalkonium chloride acts as a preservative that may also enhance the medication's effectiveness.
